The company and sauce’s unique name, Jenira (pronounced JEN-EYE-RUH), comes from combining owner’s Jennifer & Ira Rounsaville’s names together. Ira, a self-taught recreational cook, always worked to impress his wife with his cooking in the early days of their relationship. Anything with chicken became his specialty. They found that they both really enjoyed “hot wings” but wanted something more than the traditional flavor of a hot wing recipe. They also enjoyed barbecue and Ira often found himself “doctoring up” sauces he bought at the market.

Ira was in search of deeper flavors, a sauce with more "body" and all the ingredients and flavor in one bottle. He wanted something that would make your taste buds dance and go on everything. He wanted to create the one-stop-shop of sauces, not just for wings or barbecue, but an all-purpose sauce!
